Imagine Montessori sustainable school, first school with BREEAM and Green certification

Imagine Montessori School, located in Paterna, Valencia and close to the eco-neighborhood La Pinada, represents a new generation of educational spaces that integrate nature and educational materials with a conception of spaces following the guidelines of the Italian pedagogue Maria Montessori.

The design of the project counted from the beginning with the sustainability consulting team of Zero Consulting, working with the developer and the architects to incorporate the most appropriate environmental strategies.

Outstanding sustainable strategies

• Landscaped roof with native vegetation, which is nourished by rainwater, promotes biodiversity and reduces the use of water resources.
• Use of low-impact materials such as wood, structural terracotta and Catalan vaults, significantly reducing the carbon footprint by dispensing to a large extent with concrete and iron.
• Bioclimatic design with optimal orientation, continuous insulation, elimination of thermal bridges and solar protection to minimize air conditioning needs.
• Incorporation of photovoltaic roofs that generate up to 48.2% of the building's annual energy consumption.
• LED lighting with adjustable intensity and temperature, adapted to circadian rhythms to promote comfort and well-being.
• Low-consumption plumbing systems, leak detection and rainwater storage in a cistern for efficient irrigation.
